Blacksmithing is an ancient craft that involves shaping and forging metal using heat, hammers, and other tools. In this workshop, we'll introduce you to the fundamental techniques and processes that have been passed down through generations.
Workshop Description:
This two hour workshop is designed to give participants an overview of blacksmithing to help them discover if blacksmithing is something they would like to pursue further, without a large investment of time or resources. After some initial safety information and blacksmith theory (anvil height, hammer grip, etc.), participants will be able to shape and move metal as they are introduced to basic blacksmith techniques.

2 Day Beginner Course
Course Description:
The two day beginner course offers participants an opportunity to gain an appreciation and understanding of basic blacksmithing skills through a hands on course, learning and developing the 7 basic blacksmith techniques of drawing out, upsetting, splitting, spreading, punching, bending and a demo of forge welding. Participants work on creating a steak flipper, a J hook, a leaf keychain, and a bottle opener.

The tool making course requires that students have some experience blacksmithing with an understanding of the basic processes. The course will focus on the making of tools in general along with the heat treating processes of annealing, hardening and tempering. Students will make tools such as hot sets, cold chisels, and tongs. All materials included.

Course Description:
This course is intended for participants who want to learn or further develop pattern welded Damascus steel knowledge and skills. The course will cover the process of choosing different types of steel for different applications, preparing the steel, stacking, restacking, forging, grinding, etching and polishing. Different types of patterns will be discussed and examined.
Some blacksmithing experience is recommended.

The 5 day course is a comprehensive course amalgamating the Beginner Course, the Tool Making Course and a final project day. No experience is necessary as participants start with the basics, then develop over the 5 days. At the end of day 4, participants will be asked to choose one of 3 different final project options for day 5.

1 Day Family Event
The One Day Family Event is a popular one day event for those who wish to experience blacksmithing as a family. The premise behind the day is that the family uses one forge among the family to make a hand forged coat rack together. The day is not solely focused on instruction, but rather on a unique, one of a kind experience. It's great for the kids, parents and grandparents that want to experience the world of blacksmithing.
Cost: $400.00 + HST per family.

1 Day Corporate Event
Forged in Canada offers the opportunity for corporate and business teams to experience the wonder of the forge. Using Natural Gas forges, participants can create some basic projects in a short period of time with anvil and hammer, or return to work on larger projects for the company foyer, etc. Events can be held by the half-day or full day. The event can be catered if required allowing employees time to eat, smith and create. Based on 8 - 10 employees, the cost is $150.00 per person for a full day or $75.00 a person for a half day (+HST). Safety glasses and hearing protection supplied. No experience necessary!
