Introduction to Blacksmithing Workshop​​     

Workshop Description:
This three hour workshop is designed to give participants an overview of blacksmithing to help them discover if blacksmithing is something they would like to pursue further, without a large investment of time or resources. After some initial safety information and blacksmith theory (anvil height, hammer grip, etc.), participants will be able to shape and move metal as they are introduced to basic blacksmith techniques. Participants will work on a leaf keychain/pendant.

Dates and Times:
The workshops run the second Thursday of the month, 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Contact us for more information or to register.

1 Day Workshops

Workshop Description:
This 1 day workshop is designed to give participants an opportunity to create a one of a kind metal creation such as a metal rose, a copper coffee scoop, or a fire pit toasting fork, etc.  Join us in the forge for an unforgettable experience where ancient art of blacksmithing meets the satisfying feeling of creating something from raw steel. This hands on workshop is a unique opportunity to craft a functional item or a stunning piece of art for yourself or as a gift.

Dates and Times:
The workshops run the last Saturday of the month, 9am to 4pm. Check the course dates section above to register for the workshop of your choice.

2 Day Blacksmith Course

Course Description:
The two day course offers participants an opportunity to gain an appreciation and understanding of basic blacksmithing skills through a hands on course, learning and developing the 7 blacksmith techniques of drawing out, upsetting, splitting, spreading, punching, bending and a demo of forge welding. Participants work on creating a leaf keychain, three J hooks, a spoon, and a coat rack incorporating the J hooks.

Dates and Times:
The course runs every three months, on the second weekend, 8:30 am to 4 pm on Saturday, and 9am to 4pm Sunday. Check the course schedule tab for updates.

​2 Day Knife Making Course

Course Description:
This two day knifemaking course offers participants an opportunity forge and finish a knife from start to finish, including a custom handle. Participants will learn specifically about different types of knives and steels, and heat treating.

​The course runs every three months, on the second weekend, 8:30 am to 4 pm on Saturday, and 9am to 4pm Sunday. Check the course schedule tab for updates.

2 Day Camp Axe Making Course

Course Description:
This two day camp axe making course offers participants an opportunity to forge and finish a punched eye camp axe from start to finish, including a custom handle. Participants will learn specifically about different types of axe making techniques, the history of axes in the Ottawa Valley, steels, and heat treating. 

Dates and Times:
​The course runs every three months, on the second weekend, 8:30 am to 4 pm on Saturday, and 9am to 4pm Sunday. Check the course schedule tab for updates.

5 Day Iron Veteran Program

Course Description:
This 5 day program is designed to give participants 2 days of instruction in forging fundamentals, followed by a 1 day damascus workshop where you create 2-3 different patterns of damascus steel (twist, ladder, teardrop, etc.), and finally 18 hours of shop time with full access to shop equipment such as our hydraulic press and power hammer (training and instruction provided). Included in the price is $250 worth of materials to utilize during shop time.
There is no registration fee for enrolling in the program, all costs are due 2 weeks prior to the start of the course. 


Dates and Times:
​The course runs every six months, once in March, and once in September. Dates and times are flexible, but normally run 9am - 4pm daily.
